Domestic dispute leads to fire that destroys Botetourt County house

PHOTO: Fire destroyed a house Botetourt County Wednesday, and one firefighter was taken to a hospital for treatment of a knee injury after falling at the scene. Shortly before noon June 9, Botetourt County Sheriff’s Office deputies were called to the home on Willow Wood Drive for a domestic dispute. They found the suspect walking from the home carrying what appeared to be a gas can, according to deputies. The man, identified as James Wade, 24 of Big Island, was detained. Deputies then saw smoke and flames coming from inside the home, and they called Botetourt Fire-EMS. No one else was in the home and no other injuries were reported. Wade is being held at the Botetourt Craig County Regional Jail without bond on charges of Malicious Wounding, Arson of an occupied dwelling, Domestic assault and Property damage.
