Montgomery County first responders tackle structure fire, tractor-trailer fire, and vehicle fire in same day

First responders from Montgomery County, as well as surrounding counties, had a busy Wednesday. Around 8 a.m. on Wednesday, March 3, fire crews from the Elliston Volunteer Fire Department and Roanoke County Fire & Rescue Department responded to a structure fire on Lafayette Road in Elliston. According to fire crews, the fire was knocked down quickly and there were no injuries. During the early afternoon hours, Christiansburg Volunteer Fire Dept., Christiansburg Rescue, and Virginia State Police responded to a tractor-trailer fire on I-81 North at mile marker 114. Units arrived on scene to find smoke and fire coming from the cab of the truck. The fire was quickly put out and no injuries were reported. The next incident occurred along U.S. Route 460 at exit 5 in Blacksburg.
