A Halifax County volunteer firefighter lost his life over the weekend in an ATV accident in North Carolina. Clover Volunteer Fire Department Captain Andrew Dickerson says Andrew Briggs died in an accident Friday night after getting thrown from his ATV. He was just 20-years-old. Briggs was a Halifax County High School graduate who served with the fire department for four years. Dickerson says he was very outgoing and was a helping hand at the fire station. "He would stay out for hours after work, all day down there and just tinker with something. He loved riding four-wheelers, jet skis, motorcycles. You know he just enjoyed being out," said Dickerson. Briggs was at Busco Beach, an ATV park in Goldsboro, North Carolina. He was attending Mud Bash Week, a large event at the facility when the accident happened. WRAL reports Briggs hit his head after being thrown from the ATV.
