Roanoke firefighters were honored for the bravery after rescuing four people from a house fire earlier this month. The fire occurred Oct. 6 in the 2200 block of Westover Avenue. Crews rescued four people from the home -- two of whom are said to have suffered life-threatening injuries. One pet died in the fire, while two others were taken to an emergency veterinarian. One Monday, crews were recognized with Certificates of Commendation for their hard work that day.
