Two women who lived in the same Burlington building died of apparent drug overdoses Tuesday morning.
Burlington police said they received 911 calls about a potential overdose at 9:42 Tuesday morning, and found a 28-year-old woman had died in a first-floor apartment.
After people at the scene told police they had concerns about another woman in the building, police found a 37-year-old woman unconscious in a second-floor apartment. Police administered naloxone, a medication that can reverse narcotic overdoses, and tried to revive her. The Burlington Fire Department arrived thereafter and also tried resuscitation, however, they were not successful.
The women were living in a home that’s a transition program for people being supervised by the Department of Corrections. Police said they are investigating the source of the narcotics that they believe caused the overdoses, and believe the drugs came from a single source.
