A 71-year-old woman died in a Christmas Eve residential fire on the Fish Lake shore, in an incident that remains under investigation.
Christine A. Humphreys was killed in the fire, which broke out at 9:20 a.m. Monday, while her husband and son escaped. Chelan County Coroner Wayne Harris, who identified Humphreys on Wednesday, said an autopsy this week would attempt to determine the precise cause of death.
Lake Wenatchee Fire and Rescue was summoned along with assisting agencies to the home in the 22000 block of Alpine Drive, along the southern bank of Fish Lake. Fire Chief Mick Lamar said the location of the house, the steep angle to reach it and the snow all made the firefighting effort more difficult.
