Traffic is snarled on Interstate 5 in Tacoma after a semi truck burst into flames, emergency officials said.
Troopers and firefighters responded to the scene, in the northbound lanes of I-5 near Highway 512, at around 10:15 a.m. Tuesday after receiving reports of a vehicle fire.
Smoke and flames were spewing from a semi trailer with a load of produce that had caught fire. Crews went to work extinguishing the flames and state troopers blocked three northbound lanes.
One of those lanes has now reopened, but traffic is backed up to the Joint Base Lewis-McChord main gate.
