Multiple departments with the city of Kennewick are teaming up to make improvements in Zintel canyon. This after dealing with nine fires along the trail this summer, some burning dangerously close to homes. The city hosted a meeting for canyon neighbors addressing their concerns Wednesday night. Deia Johnson says she's lived in Kennewick for years, but before Thursday she'd never heard of Zintel Canyon. She was surprised to hear it had such a checkered reputation. "I don't feel like I'm in a sketchy part of town. I feel like I can just casually take a stroll and be fine." A trip to the forest, without all the baggage. Johnson and a friend discovered the green-belt on Google maps and wanted to check it out.
