On Oct. 8, Rick Steele received his Oath of Office to become a new District 3 Fire Commissioner. He replaces Richard Deleissegues, who passed away Sept. 9. “I look forward to serving the citizens of Fire District 3 and the members of this very fine fire department,” Steele said in a news release. Steele has lived in Clark County his whole life. He and his wife Jill now live in the Venersborg area, after 30 years in Hockinson. They have two children and two grandchildren. Steele enjoys traveling with his wife in their motorhome to national parks all over the nation. When at home, they both love to work in their yard and garden. Steele retired from the Vancouver Fire Department in January after 33 years of service as a firefighter, captain, and battalion chief. When he’s not putting out fires, Steele enjoys coaching the Hockinson High School football team. This is his 14th year as the head coach.
