Firefighter paramedics responded to two emergency medical calls Wednesday that required assistance from critical care transport service Life Flight, retrieving one individual injured by an exploding tractor tire and another that suffered that reportedly suffered a stroke during a hike. Grant County Fire District 3, which covers Quincy and much of rural western Grant County, first responded to a call on Road 5 Northwest for an individual severely injured after a nearby tractor tire exploded, according to fire officials. First responders experienced some nominal difficulty communicating with a Life Flight helicopter pilot over radio at first, but managed to guide the bird to a landing zone in order to transport the injured individual, who suffered extensive damage to the jaw.
