A report of a suspicious package at the Spokane County Courthouse on Wednesday afternoon prompted a large response from city firefighters. Crews were called to the historic building at 1116 W. Broadway Ave., north of downtown at about 2 p.m., where workers in the Spokane County Clerk’s Office on the third floor reported receiving a “suspicious package,” said Battalion Chief David Heizer. The building was not evacuated. After about an hour, firefighters determined the package – a standard manilla envelope – was filled only with medication. The scene was cleared shortly after. “At this point, there doesn’t appear to be any danger to anybody,” said Heizer. No injuries were reported.
