VIDEOS: Heavy rain sparked flooding in the Palouse on Tuesday night, damaging businesses and homes in Pullman and Moscow, and trapping about two dozen people in businesses until they could be rescued.
Pullman-Moscow Regional Airport received 1.21 inches of rain Tuesday – a record for the day – the National Weather Service reported. The rain pushed the South Fork of the Palouse River into flood stages at around 7 p.m., before it peaked in a minor stage at about 3 a.m., said weather service meteorologist Jeff Cote.
A flood warning is still in effect for the South Fork of the Palouse River in Pullman and the Palouse River near Potlach, Idaho, however Pullman officials said Wednesday morning that most flood water had already receded.
