PHOTO: A small brush fire torched approximately one-tenth of an acre in East Wenatchee on Tuesday afternoon. The blaze was reported just after 11 a.m. at the corner of North Georgia Avenue and Fourth Street Northeast. Firefighter Billy Turner with Douglas County Fire District No. 2 tells iFIBER ONE News the fire started when a small residential burn got out of control and spread to a nearby gulch. Turner said the blaze was fueled by windy conditions but was still rather slow moving and crews were able to quickly extinguish the fire after arriving on scene. No structures were ever threatened by the blaze and there were no injuries reported. Turner reminded residents who plan on conducting private burns on their own property to be especially cautious and have an available water source in the event the fire should spread.
