Two people were found dead in a crashed plane near La Center, Washington, Monday afternoon.
The Clark County Sheriff's Office said the single-engine plane crashed into a pond south of the East Fork Lewis River off NE 269th Street. It's unclear exactly when the plane crashed but investigators believe it happened recently. The pilot and a passenger were found dead inside.
"It breaks my heart. I just think of family and friends," said Barry Young, who lives nearby. "It is the second fatality we have had down here in just over a year." He said another plane went down in March of last year.
The Federal Aviation Administration is investigating what happened.
"It's really early in the investigation," Sgt. Fred Neiman with the sheriff's office said.
