The Left Hand Fire, burning 17 miles northwest of Naches, is under control and in mop-up.
The blaze burned roughly 3,406 acres as of Sunday morning, causing an estimated $7.6 million in damage. Firefighters are continuing to focus on mopping up the fire’s edge, removing excess equipment and supplies, and repairing the effects of the suppression effort on the landscape.
The Forest Service said in a statement that all evacuations have been reduced to Level 1. 5,000 acres of the Oak Creek Wildlife area remain closed due to the fire.
A local Type 3 organization will begin to manage the fire Monday morning. The weather over the fire area is expected to be hot and dry over the next few days, with decreasing relative humidity and only slight winds. The fire is not expected to grow.
