A hiker was rescued Sunday morning from the south side of Dragontail Peak, located southwest of Leavenworth. A 911 call came in just before 8 p.m. Saturday by Hezekiel Hinshaw, a 25-year-old Olympia who told dispatchers he had hiked the mountain and became “stuck on cliffs,” according to the Chelan County Sheriff’s Office. Hinshaw was not equipped with rope or other climbing gear. He stated he was not injured and had water, but the remainder of his gear was at his camp at Colchuck Lake. Hinshaw had reportedly hiked and free climbed to area on the mountain to a point where he felt he could not safety descend or ascend without assistance. Hinshaw was told to say put until a rescue team to make it to him.
