Wildland Firefighters continue efforts to contain a large lightning-caused brush fire that flared up Friday near Lake Roosevelt. The Williams Flats Fire is reported at over 10,400 acres and growing as of Sunday afternoon. Drift smoke from the fire is affecting air quality in the Wenatchee Valley. The Williams Flats Fire started on August 2, 2019 after a band of early morning thunderstorms with lightning moved across the eastern portion of the Colville Indian Reservation. The fire is burning south of Silver Creek Road, within the designated Game Reserve. Roads have been closed to this area at Kuehne Road and Canteen Creek Roads and plus other roads which could access the fire area. This is for firefighter and public safety. The fire is moving east and has crossed crossed Brody Creek Road and Redford Canyon.
