A two-bedroom home near Moses Lake apparently became a casualty of Saturday night’s severe lightning storm in north central Washington. Grant County Fire District 5 Chief Dan Smith says his crews were dispatched to the home in the 5500 block of Road 3 in Mae Valley at around 9:30 p.m. When crews arrived, Smith says 80%-90% of the home was consumed by fire. The house was a total loss. Smith says no one was home at the time of the fire but someone was living there. Lightning is the suspected cause at this time, but the exact cause is being investigated by the Grant County Fire Marshal’s office.
