The Longhorn Barbecue along Highway 2 will be open for business Monday, despite a fire in the commissary building earlier in the morning.
Spokane Fire Chief Brian Schaeffer said the fire impacted a detached, refrigeration area, but did not affect the restaurant.
Fire crews first responded around 4:30 a.m. after a driver in the area reported it. They said they had the fire under control just before 5:30 a.m.
Schaeffer said crews were salvaging and overhauling the space, meaning they began removing material that has burned or was near the burned area.
Schaeffer said the majority of crews were relieved around 5:30 a.m., but the fire investigator will be on scene for several hours.
Crews hope to have the area cleared by the morning commute, but asked drivers to avoid slowing down and keep moving forward to reduce traffic in the area.
Despite the fire and heavy response, the owner of Longhorn Barbecue said the restaurant will be open for business on Monday.
