Procession held for Walla Walla County firefighter who died in crash

A procession was held for a 23-year-old Walla Walla County firefighter who died in a car crash last month. Ashton Farley was found unconscious with his car on its side in ditch along Harvey Shaw Road west of Prescott on Nov. 21. A passing driver saw the vehicle, pulled over and called police to report the crash at about 1:25 a.m. Life Flight was called in but Farley died before medics arrived. Farley was a volunteer firefighter with Walla Walla County Fire Protection District 7. On Friday morning, a fellow firefighter signed Farley out of service over the air prior to the procession. "Rescue 3741 will be transporting our firefighter Ashton Farley to Moscow, Idaho. We would like to thank Farley for his years of faithful service and putting others before himself. Firefighter Farley will be out of service. May he rest in peace and enjoy his final ride in a fire truck."
