Three people are without a home after an apartment caught fire early Saturday morning.
The fire department rushed to the reported fire at the Brentwood Apartments around 7 a.m.
According to Battlion Chief Mikal Barnett, the fire was reported on the first floor. They arrived and found heavy smoke coming from the single apartment.
When they opened the door, flames started to come out. Barnett said it took about 20 minutes to control the blaze.
The resident and a firefighter were injured. Barnett said they are not life-threatening.
The apartment where the fire started suffered significant damage. Another apartment upstairs had minor damages and is uninhabitable right now, Barnett said. He added that four others also were damaged, but those residents should be back in their apartments soon.
Three people are displaced and Red Cross is assisting those people.
