Firefighters not only managed to douse a house fire but rescue a cat trapped in the burning building near Port Angeles Thursday. It was just before 8 a.m. when Clallam County Fire District 3 firefigthers were called for a home burning in the R-Corner area on the north side of U.S. 101. When they arrived, they found a room full of contents on fire that was spreading to the inside walls of the home. After knocking down the first flames, a search of the home found a cat in the home that was sluggish from smoke exposure. Firefighters brought the cat outside and nursed it back to health with oxygen. No one else was home at the time of the fire and there were no injuries.
