Firefighters responded to a brush fire near a Richland neighborhood Thursday evening. The fire was first reported at 7:51 p.m. at Top of the World Park at the end of Glenwood Court. The park was evacuated as crews arrived began putting out the flames. People who live nearby started getting their hoses out and spraying their lawn as the fire burned near their backyards. The fire was contained in less than an hour and no homes were evacuated. An official said a previous fire from a couple weeks ago helped stop the fire from spreading. The cause of the fire is under investigation. Richland and Kennewick Fire were on scene.
