Authorities say a 30-year-old man was injured Saturday when he broke out his bedroom window to escape a fire that enveloped his home. Firefighters were called about 6 a.m. to reports of a home on fire at 3303 W. Seventh Ave., according to a Kennewick Fire Department news release. Arriving fire officials found a large volume of fire coming from the building and an injured resident in the front yard, the release said. Firefighters say the man woke up to the smoke detector activation alarm and had to break his bedroom window to escape the rapid-moving fire. The 30-year-old suffered cuts to his wrists and hands from the broken glass as he exited the window and smoke inhalation. He was taken to TRIOS hospital in Kennewick for treatment. Three other people inside were able to escape the fire without injury.
