Pipeline Fire north of Selah spreads; evacuation notices remain in place

A brush fire in the L.T. Murray Wildfire Area near Selah spread to 4,000 acres as of Thursday morning. The Pipeline Fire was 10 percent contained as of Thursday evening, according to Stevie Mathieu, a spokesperson for the state Department of Natural Resources. The fire started at 6:25 p.m. Tuesday as a thunderstorm passed through the area. The cause is listed as unknown. Roughly 400 homes were issued Level 2 evacuation notices Wednesday and the notices remain in place, according to the Yakima Valley Office of Emergency Management.
