A man suffered serious burns after a garage goes up in flames at a Kennewick home. Kennewick firefighters responded at 12:15 a.m. on Underwood Street near 27th Avenue and Vancouver Street to a garage up in flames. When they arrived, a man was outside the home with third-degree burns. According to Capt. Brian Ellis, the man in his 30s was in his garage when a fire broke out. Witnesses told first responders that the man was working on a neighbor's car and welding. For unknown reasons, a fire started. "The fire was blowing out of the garage," Ellis said. The wife heard a sound, and her husband came running inside on fire. Ellis said when she couldn't put him out, the wife put him in the shower to douse the flames. Paramedics rushed him to Trios where he was quickly flown to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle.
