Firefighters had more than the usual challenges in fighting a fire that was burning a garage on the Key Peninsula early Wednesday morning. It was around 12:30 a.m. when the fire broke out in the 12000 block of 123rd Street NW, according to Key Peninsula Fire officials. Firefighters arrived to find extensive flames burning the garage with live ammunition stored inside exploding in the heat, officials said. A second alarm was called and firefighters fought the fire from the outside. They were eventually able to get the flames out and keep them from spreading to nearby homes, though the garage was completely destroyed. Two people who lived inside the house were not injured. Investigators are still looking into what started the fire.
