Firefighters worked to put out two grass fires in Kennewick Monday afternoon, both within a few miles from each other.
Around 1:20 p.m., Benton County Fire District #1 went out and found one fire near the I-82 entrance from Kennewick. The other was near Locust Grove Road.
Firefighters were quickly able to put it out. According to District #1 Chief Lonnie Click, the fire burned three to five acres. Click believes it was started by a car. However, he said he'll be looking for any signs of a tire or other materials that could have caused it.
One lane was shut down while firefighters were checking for hot spots.
