Strong winds drove a brush fire to a little over 5 acres Friday night near Wapato Lake Road, according to Chelan County Fire District 5.
Firefighters were called out shortly before 10 p.m. to the blaze, started by a transformer, Fire Chief Arnold Baker said. If it weren't for the wind, he said, "we wouldn't have had an incident."
Baker said no one was injured and, though the fire was near two structures, no property was lost.
About 25 firefighters responded from Chelan County districts 1, 5 and 7 and Douglas County districts 2 and 4, Baker said. Most left the scene by about 3 a.m., but he stuck around, patrolling until about 5 a.m.
