An army of goats will be released onto parts of the Wenatchee Foothills later this month to help reduce fire fuels. Chelan County Fire District 1 expects to set loose about 300 goats on steep hillsides behind the Broadview neighborhood, said Chief Brian Brett. The goats will be allowed to chew away sections of hillside vegetation before moving to un-chomped areas, he said. Twenty-eight homes were destroyed four years ago in the Broadview neighborhood during the Sleepy Hollow Fire. Reducing fuels can help limit the spread of wildfires, Brett said.
