A fire consumed multiple derelict vehicles and spread to cover about 1 and a half acres of wild land in the Moclips area Tuesday afternoon.
Stephanie Alstad with Grays Harbor Fire District #8 said they received the call for a fire at the 206 Mill on Otis Court in Moclips just after 1 PM Tuesday. The initial report was of several vehicles on fire, flames and smoke seen and threatening structures. Arriving crews found several old, derelict vehicles on fire, but no structures.
The fire was mostly between the 206 Mill and the 208 Mill, but threatening wildlands. Tenders and assistance were sent in from Fire District 16, the Quinault Fire Department and Washington Department of Natural Rresources.
No injuries were reported and the source or cause of the fire was not identified. The scene was transferred to DNR at 7:42 pm and they stayed overnight to watch over the area.
