Flash flooding, wildfire starts possible in Eastern Washington due to hazardous weather

The National Weather Service (NWS) office in Spokane has issued a Hazardous Weather Outlook for much of North Central Washington today. The bulletin was officially issued at 5:22 this morning due to atmospheric conditions which are likely to produce scattered thunderstorms in the region. Some of these storms could be strong and become capable of producing gusty winds in excess of 40 mph, frequent lightning, hail, and torrential rain. The storm activity is expected to develop over the Cascades by mid-afternoon and spread east by late afternoon and early evening to include the Wenatchee Valley, Upper Columbia Basin and Moses Lake area, Waterville Plateau, and the Okanogan Highlands and Valley, as well as the entire eastern slopes of the Nortern Cascades.
