Yakima firefighters are climbing stairs for a great cause this weekend.
Nine firefighter will be participating in the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society Firefighter Stairclimb in Seattle.
They will be climbing 69 flights of stairs, which is equivalents to more than 1,300 steps, all while wearing their gear.
The fire department has raised more than $6,000.
YFD firefighter Bill Kotzin has participated in the stairclimb in the past.
“I’d just personally like to thank all the donors that have contributed - Fred Meyer, our fellow firefighters [and] families,” said Kotzin. “They been more than generous, they’ve gone above and beyond to help us out and to help us reach our goal.”
