PHOTO: A paper recycling warehouse suffered significant smoke and water damage when a fire broke out in the building Thursday night. An employee at the Fibres International warehouse noticed smoke and flames coming from a bale of newspaper and cardboard around 6:30 p.m. and called 911. Firefighters from several neighboring cities, as well as from Paine Field and Boeing arrived to find light smoke coming from the building in the 2600 block of 94th Street SW. They discovered a fire burning in 50-foot stacks of paper bales. It took about an hour to contain the fire, but paper bales continued to smolder and foam trucks from Paine Field were brought in to spray the bales and extinguish the stubborn flames. No one was injured. Fire investigators are still looking into what started the fire but believe the cause is accidental.
