Making history, Samantha Wright has been named as the Moses Lake Fire Department’s first-ever full-time female firefighter paramedic, according to a press release. Wright will fill one of three new positions with the department that were authorized by the Moses Lake City Council for the 2019 budget year. She holds National Registry Emergency Medical Technician-Paramedic certification, as well as similar certification from Washington state, and was previously employed by Lifeline Ambulance in Omak. Wright has served as a volunteer firefighter with Grant County Fire District No. 10 in Royal City since 2015 and holds certifications in wildland firefighting, hazardous materials, and emergency medical services. Wright participated in a competitive civil service hiring process held at the Headquarters Fire Station earlier this month. During the hiring process she distinguished herself as a capable firefighter and paramedic, according to the press release.
