Spokane firefighters found a man suffering from smoke inhalation after they were called to an apartment fire early Sunday. Firefighters responded about 2 a.m. to the Mt. Vernon Terrace apartments, 3106 S. Mt. Vernon St., after neighbors reported hearing the sound of smoke alarms, according to a news release. A crew found the man still inside his apartment, which was filled with smoke. He was treated at the scene and then taken to a local hospital. His injuries were not life-threatening. Michele Anderson, a spokeswoman for the Spokane Fire Department, said the fire was limited to one room of the man’s apartment. Firefighters stopped the blaze from spreading to other units. The cause of the fire remained under investigation Monday.
