PHOTO: Fire destroyed a house in the Sunnybanks neighborhood of Chelan early Saturday morning. The blaze was reported at 3:41 a.m. in the 4000 block of Sunnybank Drive and drew the response of 25 personnel and seven apparatus, mostly from Chelan County Fire District No. 7. District No. 7 Chief Tim Lemon said the residence was fully involved when firefighters arrived on scene and also destroyed six vehicles and an attached carport. Although fire crews arrived too late to save the home and attached property, they were able to keep the blaze from spreading to adjacent structures and the surrounding wilderness. Lemon said it took roughly an hour to corral the fire and was made more difficult to knock down due to a lack of hydrant access in the vicinity.
