VIDEO: Wednesday’s beautiful weather suddenly turned smoky in the vicinity of Washington and Buchanan Streets near downtown Wenatchee in the late afternoon when a pickup truck caught fire. Chelan County Fire District No. 1 (Chelan 1) Deputy Chief Andy Davidson tells iFIBER ONE News the late 90s model GMC Sonoma SLS was first reported to have had flames on its underside. Two engines from Chelan 1 quickly responded to the blaze, which was called in a little after 4 p.m. Davidson indicated this made for an atypical action for a car fire based on the department’s regular protocols, which generally only dispatch one apparatus, but in this instance drew two since one was already nearby. Crews knocked down the flames in less than three minutes and had the fire completely extinguished in around five minutes.
