Toppenish Fire officials are looking into a suspicious warehouse fire near US-97 and State Route 22.
Around 10 a.m. Sunday, firefighters were called out to the warehouse fire. The building was vacant for 25 years, until recently. A semi-truck and car were inside the two-story building. While firefighters put out the fire, the roof collapsed. The warehouse is a total loss.
Witnesses say they saw a woman near the fire when it started. Police are questioning her and consider her a “person of interest” in the suspicious fire, according to Toppenish Fire Chief Timothy Smith.
Fire officials have not yet determined if it was set intentionally.
The cause is under investigation.
