A garage fire lit up the sky on Badger Mountain Saturday night. Officials say crews responding to the blaze were challenged by its remote location and the long winding dirt road that led to it. It was first reported just before 9 pm Saturday. Fire Spokesman, Jim Oatey says in a news release that the owner reported he had been working in the newly built garage, went home and returned to find it fully involved in fire. Oatey says the cause of the fire is under investigation with initial suspicion pointing toward a wood stove that was being used to heat the building at the time of the fire. Oatey described the location as very remote with access on top of Badger Mountain, then down several miles of gravel county road and then several miles unimproved private roadway requiring 4-wheel drive access.
