The Spokane Fire Department announced it successfully installed 181 fire alarms in homes across the Garland Neighborhood on Saturday.
Firefighters said the installation was part of Fire Prevention Week, during which they installed the alarms in 85 homes.
Of those installations, firefighters said one of the homes belonged to 70-year-old Dan, a veteran who lives alone and only had one smoke detector in his living room prior to their visit.
The Spokane Fire Department installs smoke detectors for free. If you have questions or would like them installed in your home, just call your local fire department.
