Today Benton County Fire District 4 celebrated the groundbreaking for its newest station. The new station will be built on two-acres of land on Keen Road in West Richland. It is part of a bond voters in Benton County Fire District 4 approved back in 2018 which will equip the station and purchase replacement emergency apparatus. The land was sold by the Port of Kennewick and the new station will also improve emergency response times district-wide and provide additional units to respond during back-to-back-calls. According to Benton County Fire District 4, West Richland has grown 25 percent since 2010. Population in the unincorporated areas served by the Fire District has increased by 30 percent.
