Moses Lake City Council will vote Tuesday on a proposal to add a fee to new construction to help pay for expanding fire services.
The proposal was presented to council members in September, but the council asked for more information and for a look at other options. The proposal to be considered by the council Tuesday is the same one presented in September. “No changes have been made,” said interim city manager Kevin Fuhr.
Fuhr and community development director Kris Robbins did not answer questions submitted by email Thursday morning.
The Grant County Homebuilders Association and local realtors have expressed some concerns over the proposal, saying the city has other options to pay for the service.
The proposal would implement a sliding scale for new construction, whether it’s residential, commercial, or something that doesn’t fit into those categories, such as a church.
