A person escaped a burning Vancouver home with some minor injuries on Monday morning, Vancouver Fire Department officials said. The fire was reported at about 9:30 a.m. in the 12800 block of Northeast 14th Street. The column of smoke from the burning house could be seen across the city. Firefighters arrived to find flames in the front window of the single-story home. Crews started knocking back the fire and waited for additional crews to arrive on-scene. Vancouver Fire said the only person who was at home when the fire broke out managed to get out. The person was evaluated by paramedics at the scene for some “non-life-threatening injuries” but declined an ambulance ride to the hospital. The American Red Cross will help the people who lost their home in the fire with temporary shelter. Investigators are working to determine a cause of the fire.
