Richland firefighters have trained another Richland business to perform hands-only CPR.
Windermere Real Estate did employee training with the fire department last month. They're now considered a Heart Safe Campus, a program the firefighters started more than a year ago.
"Our work in cardiac resuscitation statistically put us up towards the top in the country," said Battalion Chief James Hempstead. "And as far as 2019, we're currently 200% above 2018 in the number of lives saved."
Recently Hempstead was asked to speak at a national resuscitation summit next month. Two national speakers are chosen for this. Additionally, a member of the Richland Fire Department also serves on the Heart Safe board.
Hempstead said they've trained more than 5,000 people this year, about 10% of the Richland population.
