A Friday night fire at the Blue Flame Asian Bistro has temporarily closed their East Wenatchee location for restoration. Douglas County Fire District 2 and Chelan County District 1 crews responded just before 11:00 p.m. to the restaurant on Valley Mall Park for a fire in the kitchen area. Fire Marshal Kurt Blanchard says the fire was first reported by employees of Blue Spoon Frozen Yogurt. “The area of origin was specifically at the deep fat fryer where we had some sort of combustible material that was unidentified that caught fire, probably just from the radiant heat from the shortening in the vat.” He says they were lucky to have security cam footage of the fire. According to the company’s Facebook page, no one was injured, but they are going to be closed for the safety of their employees and customers.
