The Washington State Patrol Bomb Squad has determined a suspicious substance found Thursday at the Douglas County Courthouse in Waterville is non-hazardous.
The courthouse will remain closed on Friday to both employees and the public, according to the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office. The shelter in place issued Thursday evening has been lifted.
The courthouse was evacuated at about 5 p.m. Thursday as a precaution due to the substance being found in the building. A shelter in place for anyone within 300 feet was also in place until about 9:30 p.m.
Four county employees who may have been exposed to the substance were decontaminated and taken to a local medical facility for observation.
