Washington firefighters will soon join the aggressive firefight in California. California has requested 15 wildland strike teams of engines from Washington, according to the Southeast Washington Interagency Incident Management Team. The agency went on to say Sunday night that the crews are being mobilized. Nearly 200,000 people in Northern California are under evacuation orders as crews work to contain a wildfire in Sonoma County. Officials said that wildfire has burned 85 square miles, destroyed 94 structures, and was threatening 80,000 buildings. There are dozens of other smaller wind-driven wildfires across the state. Gov. Gavin Newsom declared a state of emergency Sunday morning, according to ABC News.
