Clallam County Fire District No. 4 has purchased three automated external defibrillators after receiving a $4,168 grant from the Benjamin N. Phillips Memorial Fund. The fund awards grants each year to organizations serving Clallam County.
The AEDs arrived earlier this month and are now in the personal vehicles of the district’s lead responders, which allows them to respond directly to the location of a possible heart attack patient.
The fire district is also urging residents to attend free CPR classes, which are held at the main fire station in Joyce.
“Clallam County Fire Protection District No. 4 is grateful for the generosity of the Benjamin N. Phillips Memorial Fund in supporting this effort to bring ever higher quality medical services to the residents and visitors of the district,” Chief Greg Waters said in a press release.
