After 19 years of dedicated service on Lopez Island, Battalion Chief/Paramedic Tracie Red Elk is hanging up her stethoscope, stowing her fire helmet and sailing off into a well deserved retirement. Tracie began her Lopez Fire and EMS career in 2000 as a volunteer firefighter and EMT. She went on to become a paramedic in 2010 and brought those critical life saving skills to Lopez. “Tracie’s dedication to the Lopez community not only as a Paramedic, but as a youth mentor, and Fire/EMS instructor will be greatly missed. She is a great role model and an incredible friend and human being.” said Lopez Fire and EMS Chief J Havner. Tracie’s future plans include traveling and spending more time with her family, in particular her new grandchild.
